Apprentice (3.9%)

This was meant to be a totally different beer but Jeremy

aka Dad aka The Apprentice added Polish Marynka hops instead

Challenger ones. We must let him do this again though as it's a

fine beer! Golden in colour, hoppy nose and definitely a session beer.

(Following feedback from our customers we have produced

two different pump clips for this beer, apparently scary

pictures put off some drinkers........)

Dengie Best Bitter (3.6%)

A new brew to tempt those who like a malty brew with plenty of flavour, not too

much hop but at a strength where you can make a night of it.

A bit of a 'test' but as the first batch sold straight out it must have been good

so we'll keep brewing it!

Hoppy Helper II (4.0%)

Brewed once again for as the Staff beer for the 6th CAMRA Maldon Beer Festival.

Admittedly we'll be 'working' there all week so we have to take some beer otherwise

we get told off for 'sampling' too much!

A taste of our summer beer to come. Light in colour with a real hop kick. Refreshing and

very more-ish. So good one of the local brewers voted it 'Beer of the Festival'

UPDATE: Now a regular brew. The plan was to tweak the recipe and call it something else for our

Summer Ale but it was so good people said to leave it as is. Or as my mum would say 'if you keep playing

with it it'll fall off!'

Dark Mild (4.6%)

A deep red mild. Historically milds were much stronger than most available today with the

'mild' referring to the amount of hops as opposed to the alcoholic strength. So here's one

with a bit more body than most. A blend of dark 'Carafa' malts which are de-husked to

give a smoother flavour with a bit of sweetness to balance. Lightly hopped means it's ideal

for those who don't like bitter beers.

New Dawn (3.7%)

A bit of a special for May/June although it might become a regular judging on its

first tastings. A good traditional bitter that will appeal to those who like a

nice lightly hopped real ale with a bit of malt and a nice finish. A cracking

beer that'll suit almost all bitter drinkers out there.

Apprentice 'X' (4.3%)

This is a trial brew that might not be repeated. We're planning to start bottling beer shortly and this is a trial for that. We won't be bottling it all so get in quick if you want some. It's the same hops but with a bit more grain to make it stronger and a shade darker.

Seasonals and Specials

Bobbie Burns (Seasonal)

Our January Special. Brewed with a Scottish influence, plenty of dark malts but not too

'roasty' and not as hoppy and most English brews. (Hops do need some sunshine so don't

do too well over the border) A tribute to the great man himself, oh and January the 25th

is also our head brewers birthday.

Santas Night Off (Seasonal)

A malty brew for those long winter nights but not too heavy so you can have more than one.

Balanced with English hops this is a brew for all those poor souls who after Christmas

need a night off, even Santa.

IPA Twist (3.6%) (Special order only)

Not a historically accurate IPA that's for sure (we think is more on par with a 'modern' one)

Copper brown, lightly hopped but with a light refreshing coriander twist makes this a good

session beer for those bored with those other 'IPAs'

Raging Bull (4.9%) (Special order only)

A Special Bitter, full malty flavour with traditional English Fuggles and Goldings hops.

At 4.9% we don't recommend it as session beer as it has a bit of a kick!

Rochford 750 (discontinued)

Our first 'commissioned' beer. Brewed on behalf of the Chairman of Rochford  District

Council in recognition of Rochford Markets 750th anniversary with a 10p per pint donation

going to his two nominated charities for 2007/8. That's Epilepsy in Children and Testicular

Cancer Awareness. Brewed to an older style (plenty of malts and hops) but not too dark or heavy.
